1. Picture requirements:

RocketWerks primarily works with digital video, compressed as a DV/NTSC 48kHz quicktime file (preferably with visible timecode in the upper left), of the highest resolution possible, which can be delivered on firewire drive, DVD or CD. Call to determine the best format for your project. Below are the traditional specs for the low-cost SVHS format.

Two (2) SVHS dubs of the final locked picture, as reels are broken down, are required for each reel. Each reel must begin at a new hour of 29.97 (drop or non-drop) timecode (Reel 1= hour 1; reel 2= hour 2; etc.) with the zero frame at the picture start frame (2-pop at 6 seconds past the hour). You may place as many reels on one 60-minute cassette as possible provided that each reel begins a new hour of time code.

    The SVHS dubs should have:

    • LTC(Longitudinal Time Code) on Linear (or "Normal") Track 2
    • Production audio on Hi-Fi track 1
    • Visible TC in upper left inside TV safe
    • VITC on lines 12 and 14
    • Academy leader, including 2-pop and tail pop; yes, even with HD, DV, etc.

All timecode should match the master cassette’s timecode, be it drop or non-drop frame.

All SVHS dubs should be no longer than 60-minute cassettes.

2. Audio requirements:

One (1) copy of DOS formatted 3.5" floppy disc of CMX format audio EDL referencing the audio reel numbers, at the master timecode frame rate; or an OMF Project file as your master audio. Click here for more information about OMF Project files.
